The Voyager train, a more economical option offered by Inca Rail, departs from the town of Ollantaytambo for a journey of just over 90 minutes to Machu Picchu (lost city of the Incas). With room for 42 passengers in each car, these spacious carriages offer comfortable leather seats with individual dining tables and panoramic windows with anti-impact UV protection to make the most of the changing landscape along the way.
The Voyager train also offers a selection of snacks, sweets and a variety of beverage options, including infusions. Inca Rail’s focus is on providing attentive and helpful service, making it an excellent economical alternative to enjoy your journey to the wonder of the world enjoying the beautiful landscapes surrounding the Urubamba Valley and Machu Picchu.
This tour begins with a pick-up from your hotel at approximately 4:00 am to transfer you to the train station in Ollantaytambo. The road trip takes between 1.5 and 2 hours to reach the station.
Once there, we will board the Inca Rail Voyager train to Machu Picchu Pueblo. Upon disembarking, our representative will be waiting to take you to the bus station for the journey to the Inca citadel. You will have free time to purchase a snack. Then, at approximately 9:00 am, we will take the tourist bus with your guide for approximately 25 minutes to the entrance of Machu Picchu.
Entry to Machu Picchu will be around 10:00 am, followed by a guided tour of approximately 2.5 hours. Prepare to connect with the history, architecture, and energy of the Inca culture as our guide shares the stories and mysteries of the lost city. After the visit, you will descend by bus to Machu Picchu Pueblo.
It is important to note that you must arrive at the train station 30 minutes early. Your return Voyager train may depart at 2:30 pm or 4:12 pm (depending on availability and prior arrangements made during booking), so your arrival time at the station will be 2:00 pm or 3:45 pm respectively.
Upon your arrival in Ollantaytambo, our private transportation will be waiting to take you back to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel.
