Experience the wonder of Machu Picchu on a curated full-day journey from Cusco by Expedition Train, featuring expert local guides, comfortable rail transport, and a carefully planned itinerary designed to make your visit to the Lost City of the Incas seamless, enriching, and unforgettable.
You can enjoy an incomparable and fascinating panoramic train ride, as you pass through the ancient cities of the Incas. Travel through alpine meadows nestled between green, brown and white peaks, intricately formed valleys, layers of artisanal Inca farming terraces, snow-capped mountains and the subtropical rainforest near the Peruvian Amazon.
The tour begins early in the morning. We will pick you up at 4:00 a.m. from your hotel and travel by private transport to the train station in Ollantaytambo, where we will board the 6:10 a.m. Expedition train. During the journey, you will enjoy spectacular scenery: Andean valleys, snow-capped mountains, Inca terraces, canyons, and the cloud forests that herald the arrival at the edge of the rainforest.
Upon your arrival in the town of Aguas Calientes, around 7:50 a.m., you will have free time to purchase a snack. Then, at approximately 9:00 a.m., we will take the tourist bus with your guide for approximately 25 minutes to the entrance of Machu Picchu. Once there, we will begin a guided tour of approximately two and a half hours, where you will learn about the history, architecture, and secrets of the sacred citadel, accompanied by your professional guide who will answer all your questions. You will have free time to take photographs, enjoy the breathtaking views of Machu Picchu, or, if you wish, walk to the Sun Gate (optional, not included in the guided tour).
Afterward, we will return by bus to the town of Aguas Calientes where you will have time for lunch (not included) and then take the train back to the town of Ollantaytambo at 2:55 p.m., arriving at approximately 5:10 p.m. Upon arrival at the Ollantaytambo station, your private transportation will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco, arriving around 7:00 p.m.
